Does wine contribute to the decreased risk of hardening of arteries?

Attention is now being paid to polyphenols, for they contribute to the decreased risk of hardening of arteries associated with wine consumption.
'Bad' cholesterol in the body accumulate on the blood vessel walls, and become oxidized LDL (low density lipoprotein) by activated oxygen. This oxidized LDL causes hardening of arteries.
Polyphenols contribute to prevent arteries from hardening during the process. Polyphenols oxidize themselves before activated oxygen oxidize 'bad' cholesterol, for polyphenols themselves are easy to be oxidized.
